Okay, the rudder's up, next the
outboard -- we're ready to roll . . . |
And out we come . . . |
Up the ramp to the parking lot. |
Wally the Wader, Mike and I take a breath and a look over
the results . . . |
Wow, that's some growth on the bottom -- a beard
of seaweed ringing the hull .
. . |
Uh oh, the boat doesn't look too centered on the trailer
. . . |
Nope, not centered well at all . . . |
Since Chip Ahoy will sit on the trailer all winter, and
the water's right there, we decided to get it done right. We backed in,
refloated the boat, and centered it using dock lines . . . |
Ah yes, much better -- perfect . . . |
Second try's the charm today! That lettuce hanging of the
transom didn't budge though! |
The keel, centered properly for the
winter. Barbara and her nasty cold left for home while we moved on with the remainder of
the routine; removing the outboard and rudder, stripping off the
rigging, taking down the mast, strapping the boat to the trailer. |
Mast down, everything stowed, ready to roll home, mission accomplished.
[Thanks to the young lady passing by for taking this crew shot.] |
Chip Ahoy back home now needs to have
all its contents removed and stowed indoors for the winter.
What a mess that bottom is. . . |
It'll take some sanding and bottom
painting next spring before launching, after I shave that ugly beard. |
I borrowed my buddy Ed's Honda pressure-washer; my first step will
be taken tomorrow. |
