Just A Typical Snowstorm

On Saturday morning, hearing we had a snowstorm coming, I loaded up with firewood. The racks are getting lighter, almost half empty already (Jan. 10, 2009)

The last storm melted a bit then froze solid as cement.  I expected a thaw before the next storm, but apparently this isn't going to happen.

The path across the front of the house to the sliding kitchen door on the side. The trail by which I haul in the firewood, is dense ice, dog tracks frozen into it like prehistoric fossil.

It began snowing at midnight. In the morning we awoke to everything blanketed in white again. (Jan. 11, 2009)

Oh boy, it's going to be another day of moving lots of white stuff from one place to another again. This time we got between 10" and a foot, fortunately light and fluffy.

The side yard out to the birdfeeders.

A view out to the shed and birdfeeder.

Barbara's maple tree, hammock frame, and lounge chair, winter version.

The plow guys cleared out the lot around noon and I began digging out the paths. This one's now clear from the lean-to where the snowthrower is stored, alongside the house, out to the birdfeeders in the back.

Chip Ahoy is beginning to disappear behind the snow pile plowed in from the parking lot.

That remote starter in the Blazer earns its keep after snowstorms. With its defroster turned on in advance and blowing away, clearing off the truck is pretty much just a matter of time.

All cleared out again, until the next storm arrives and snowfall needs to be moved from one place to another all over again.

A night view beneath the floodlights from just outside the kitchen door of the trail across the front of the house.  The overturned Chip Mate, the dinghy, rests in the background.

The paths out to the shed, around it to the ash pile behind it, and to the birdfeeder.

By contrast, inside the kitchen it's warm and cozy in front of the wood stove.
