The Teak Trim Refinishing Project Revisited
-- One Year after --

My indoor project over the winter of 2007-08 was to remove and refinish all the teak trim. After sanding down to bare teak, I applied numerous coats of Sikkens Cetol Marine Natural Teak finish. Besides needing refinishing since I'd last removed, sanded, and applied teak oil over the winter of 2002-03, I'd heard a lot of good things about using a Cetol finish for durability. I'm gratified to report after one year, so far so good. The finish still looks splendid!

There were a few spots where the finish had acquired a few minor dings and scratches, not unexpected from use. Those I carefully touched up primarily to seal the wood from further weathering. They came out almost unnoticeable. While cleaning and waxing the boat, I rubbed on a coat of wax over all the teak.

The trim looks as good after a year's use as it did freshly applied last spring.
