Description

Malacass passes ahead of us with the Beverly coastline in the background.   (Aug. 17, 2009)

And pulls ahead.

Malacass alongside.

Ya' gotta love these photo shoots, skippers taking pictures of skippers.

Don measuring the lead Malacass is taking?

Chip Ahoy falling behind -- what's going on?

How's Malacass pulling so much ahead?

Oh yeah, right -- though I've shut off the motor, I forgot to raise and tilt Chip Ahoy's outboard. Nothing like an 8hp anchor to slow you down!

The Bowditch Ledge day marker out on the horizon, with Bakers Island to its left beyond Malacass.

Chip Ahoy sails much better with the outboard raised and tilted, while Don enjoys the view from the bow.  Greater and Lesser Misery Islands on the horizon, Bakers Island off to starboard.

Don's shot from the bow, with the Beverly and Salem coast in the background.

Another view from Don on the bow, using my Olympus pocket camera.

The sails, viewed from the bow.

Salem Sound and some of its islands, Marblehead Harbor is on the right horizon.

Sailing through Salem Channel between Bakers and Misery Islands, Bakers Island and light.
